Michael Phelps has set the men's 200-yard fly national record at the Maryland State Championships held in Annapolis this weekend.

The US superstar touched in 1:39.65, beating his previous mark of 1:39.70 set in 2006.

On Saturday he won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:40.58, half a second behind Ryan Lochte's American record of 1:40.08.
