Two world records and four European records fell on the second day of the European short-course championships in Istanbul Friday night

ISTANBUL – Two world records and four European records fell on the second day of the European short-course championships in Istanbul Friday night.

Laszlo Cseh improved his own world record in the 400 metres individual medley winning the gold medal in 3:57.27.

In the final event of day 2, Netherland team composed of Inge Dekker, Hinkelien Schreuder, Saskia De Jonge and Ranomi Kromowidjojo set a new world best for the women’s 200m freestyle relay, winning in 1:33.25.

The previous record was set by another Dutch quartet at last Europeans in Rijeka.

Rikke Møller Pedersen of Denmark set a new European mark for the women’s 200 metres breaststroke of 2:16.66, shaving 1.64s from her previous record set at the World cup in November.
