ISTANBUL – Two world records and four European records fell on the second day of the European short-course championships in Istanbul Friday night.

Laszlo Cseh improved his own world record in the 400 metres individual medley winning the gold medal in 3:57.27.

In the final event of day 2, Netherland team composed of Inge Dekker, Hinkelien Schreuder, Saskia De Jonge and Ranomi Kromowidjojo set a new world best for the women’s 200m freestyle relay, winning in 1:33.25.

The previous record was set by another Dutch quartet at last Europeans in Rijeka.

Rikke Møller Pedersen of Denmark set a new European mark for the women’s 200 metres breaststroke of 2:16.66, shaving 1.64s from her previous record set at the World cup in November.

Robin van Aggele of The Netherlands broke the men’s 100m breast European record winning gold in 56.29s.

Daniel Gyurta of Hungary improved the record for this event twice in yesterday’s heats and semi-finals.
