SYDNEY – World champion Brenton Rickard has been chosen the AIS sports athlete of the year.

This year, he won the world title in the 100 metres breaststroke and set a world record at the distance. He was the only male gold medallist for Australia in Rome.

He shared the award with triathlete and Olympic bronze medallist Emma Moffatt.
