Swimming Belgium takes measure over swimsuits
It is rumored Swimming Belgium is dissuading swimmers of the national team to contest the next short-course European championships, whether the new Fina rule, over textile swimsuits, won’t be adopted by European Swimming League, LEN.

Anyways, athletes won’t be obliged to skip the event but firmly discouraged.

Meanwhile, freestyler Pholien Systermans has been fined 1600 euros for dressing a Jaked swimsuit at the World championships in Rome.

Systermans, 19, swam thw 200m freestyle and the second leg of the 4x200 freestyle relay.

Rio World Cup Round Cancelled
The Brazilian round of the FINA-Arena World Cup scheduled for Oct 23-25 in Rio de Janeiro has been cancelled without any replacement.

The venues and dates for the 2009 Cup are now as follows:

  • Durban (RSA) 16-17 Oct
  • Moscow (RUS) 06-07 Nov
  • Stockholm (SWE) 10-11 Nov
  • Berlin (GER) 14-15 Nov
  • Singapore (SIN) 21-22 Nov

Olympian Amanda Beard gives birth to first child
American Olympican Amanda Beard, gave birth on Tuesday to her first child, a son, with photographer husband, Sacha Brown.

The baby, weighing 3,5kg, was born in Los Angeles and named Blaise Ray Brown.

Beard, 27, and Brown, married in Wakatobi, an archipelago off Indonesia, on May 1.
