South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh set a 50 metres breaststroke world record of 26.67sec winning gold at the 13th world swimming championships in Rome

ROME – South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh set a 50 metres breaststroke world record of 26.67sec winning gold at the 13th world swimming championships in Rome, today.

The 21-year-old South African champion improved on the previous record in the non-Olympic event of 26.74, set in yesterday’s semi-finals.
