Wildeboer sets 50 backstroke European record

MADRID – Aschwin Wildeboer Faber has set a new European short-course record in the men's 50 metres backstroke at the national championships.

The Spanish backstroker finished in 23.14 Friday.

The previous record of 23.15 was set by Lubos Krizko of Slovakia in a semi-final at last Europeans in Rijeka.

Wildeboer, alredy held this record when he swam the first leg of the 4x50m medley relay at the European championships in Rijeka on December 11, matching the 23.27 timed by Germany’s Thomas Rupprath.
