Giorgetti sets 200 metres breaststroke European record

GENOA – Italy’s Edoardo Giorgetti set a European record in the men's 200 meters breaststroke at the Italian short-course Championships in Genoa on Friday.

Giorgetti, 19-year-old and former Junior European and World champion, clocked 2:05.02 (28.77, 1.00:57, 1.32:48) slicing 0.47 seconds off the previous mark of 2:05.49 set by Hungary’s Daniel Gyurta when he won gold at the SC Europeans in Debrecen on December 16, 2007.
