TOKYO - Kosuke Kitajima has set a world record in the men's 200 metres freestyle at the at the Japan Open in Tokyo.

The 25-year-old Japanese won in 2 minutes, 07.51 seconds, easily beating the old mark of 2:08.50 set by Brendan Hansen of United States two years ago at the at 2006 Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria, BC Canada.
