ESSEN – American World champion Katie Ziegler rewrote her 800 metres world record at the international meeting in Essen, Germany, on Sunday.

Ziegler, 19, clocked 8:08.0 to eclipse the previous record of 8:09.68 that she has set in Saturday’s split of the 1500 metres final [when she also set a new world record of 15:32.90].
