Olympic swimming gold medallist Michael Klim has announced his retirement from competition to dedicate more time to his family

SYDNEY - Olympic swimming gold medallist Michael Klim has announced his retirement from competition.

The Olympic, world and Commonwealth champion said he wanted to dedicate more time to his family.

During a 12-year glittering career Klim, 29, won six Olympic medals, seven world championship gold and five Commonwealth Games titles.

With this decision he misses the opportunity to become the only one to go to four Olympics in Australia.
